Lineage Android poised CyanogenMod spirit alive

With the departure of Steve Kondik Cyanogen Inc, we knew it would be a major upheaval with the CyanogenMod has been tampered with. An official blog announced that the servers and the funds held in the CM post would be abolished on 31 December. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, the CyanogenMod website, wiki, forums, Gerrit and the download servers were all closed because of a change in their DNS.

As mentioned, it was expected to take place on Dec. 31, but he came six days earlier as a Christmas surprise for the community. Fortunately, people do not wait until the last minute to start filing things that existed. You can find an archive of CM wiki here, and an archive of the latest snapshot build here. At the time, leaving the other resources such as forums, Gerrit and servers of the site down.
While LineageOS always trying to put together, they could raise their own Gerrit server now. For those who do not know, Gerrit allows a team of developers to announce the changes they would like made to the code base. These changes can be seen by other group members, and they can all comment on it too. Thus, before a fault has been corrected, or a new feature is implemented, other developers to review it and decide if they feel that it would be a conflict. It also gives people who are outside of the development team a way to see what kind of changes (provided it is published). Even if you or I can view the recent changes that occur with LineageOS now.

We can see which commitments are still open, which merged and abandoned. While CyanogenMod as a whole may have met a fiasco on vacation, there are still a number of people are still working on the new code base for LineageOS In a post on the official blog CyanogenMod, we learn that the current status of Cyanogen means that it is no longer possible continue and that the best way forward requires a change. No one should be surprised by the recent events in the parent company Cyanogen inc. And today announces that it has reached the end of the road and close to the business.
Put some obstacles in front of the community-driven CM that can not be skipped when you take the heritage name and structure. Servers and infrastructure will soon disappear, no one is at the helm to lead the way forward and the same name Cyanogen himself available to the right bidder. Cyanogen CyanogenMod was, Inc. A vacuum at the top will not work.
However, the CM always been more than the name and the infrastructure. CM has been successful in the same spirit, ingenuity and effort of their individual employees - back when it was Kondik in his house, now there are thousands of former and current employees.
But the ideas behind the CM is not dead. The latest version was published and updated regularly patches Android security bulletin and source Mountains are split into something new - Android Lineage Distribution.

Android Lineage use whatever CM did to build a better alternative to basic phone manufacturers software. Even more important than the code and software matched eight of CM built minds of people who want to do something different and better. And he is living under a new name with a new future.
See CM saying goodbye is difficult. They were here in one way or another since the beginning and we did reach both the ups and downs that come with any long journey. They embody the spirit of what Android is when you scratch the dollar signs and businesses and make it about us. Users, builders, dreamers. We centimeters. We lose a small part of us today.
But we can rejoice in the future with Linage project and do all we can to keep these dreams and this living spirit. For all participants, we wish you the best. Let us know how we can help you.

The official Gerrit LineageOS is now

 Gerrit(Software)
"Gerrit is a collaborative team tool code based on the free web. Software developers in a team can see changes from each to their source code using a web browser and accept or reject those changes. It integrates a distributed version control system in close collaboration with Git."
