These
robots are used by Amazon to make the lives of their employees easier
by bringing items to them instead of having them walk from shelf to
shelf, looking for items. When an order is made on Amazon, the robot
travels to the relative shelf which contains the required item. When
travelling to find shelves, the Betty-bots move under shelves
whenever possible, leaving the highways clear for robots which are
carrying shelves. The floors contain QR codes which help the robots
navigate through the warehouse. They are capable of object detection
to avoiding collision with other robots or objects. When the
necessary shelf is identified, the robot creeps under it and lifts it
up and carries it towards the respective employee. If there is a
queue near the employee, the robot takes its place at the end of the
queue.
This
is a robot smartphone containing the features of an ordinary
smartphone and more. It acts as a personal assistant, and could be
controlled by voice commands. It contains an inbuilt projector which
could be used to project images, videos and maps to the user. It is
also capable of walking, sitting and dancing. It runs on an Android
5.0 operating system and is capable of storing up to 16 GB of data.
It has communication/ connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi and
LTE, and it also has an integrated camera.
This
is a humanoid robot with 34 degrees of freedom, which allows it to
carry out day-to-day activities such as pushing carts and carrying
objects. Asimo is capable of adjusting the force it exerts on a
person depending on the force exerted on it when shaking hands. It is
quite stable and is capable of walking, running, climbing and
descending while maintaining its balance and avoiding obstacles. In
addition, Asimo is also capable recognizing speech, gestures, faces
and movements.
Pepper
is an interactive autonomous humanoid robot which is capable of
identifying human emotions. Pepper changes its behavior depending on
the mood of the user, therefore, it makes a perfect human companion.
Pepper is capable of recognizing faces and speech and responds
accordingly. The more time you spend with Pepper, the more it learns
about you, your qualities, likes, dislikes and habits, to change
itself accordingly and improve your experience with it. With the
right apps, Pepper could be trained to dance, play and learn other
languages. Also, Pepper is capable of moving around on its own while
avoiding obstacles.
Nao
is another interactive humanoid robot companion. Nao has 25 degrees
of freedom and could recognize speech in twenty different languages.
Nao could access the internet through Ethernet and WiFi. As with
Pepper, Nao too could be personalized to meet the needs of the user.
Nao is capable of face, shape and speech recognition, sound
localization and object detection.
These
cheerleader robots have a ball as their base, so they move by rolling
it. They have great balance thanks to three gyro sensors. A host
computer is used to give each robot commands on what their next
positions are. These robots could communicate through a wireless
network to identify each other’s relative positions and adjust
themselves according to the received commands or to avoid colliding
with each other. They dance to music using preprogrammed moves with
perfect synchronization.
