Seems like a completely weird topic, isn't it? But sit back, relax and take a closer look. Smartphones started to effect human lives from almost a decade ago. In 2007, Apple introduced its' iPhone to the world. Then until now various manufacturers make various kinds of smartphones with various specs.
In those days, there were no doubt that smartphones made people's lives lot easier. But now, is it same? Well it is a good question to consider. Now because of the huge competition, companies provide various and unique features. Some devices includes a digital pen. Some devices have dual cameras, dual screens and even pressure sensors.💦
It was about the hardware side. But when it comes to the software, the situation is the same, most of the Android phone manufacturers make their own customized versions of Android System for their phones. Almost all of these customized android versions includes their own set of apps along with pre-built Google's apps.In that case you have simply two dialer apps, messaging apps, gallery apps, music apps etc. Is it really necessary? No, simply what they do is add some useless or rarely used functionalities and call them as "new features". Then they simply make the app more complex than google's one. This can be proven comparing a Nexus or Pixel Device with another heavy skinned device like Samsung Galaxy. Also running two apps consumes more power and ram which is also a common problem in Android devices.
So what should be the solution? I think that almost all manufacturers have to identify what are the neccessary features for a common man 👬 and how to improve those features without complexing the whole operating interface. That what simply apple do. i Phone does not have themes, icon packs, useless sensors, only one app for each task. Then people do not get stucked with decisions like what should be the theme, what is the icon pack, what is the app for this etc. Also i Phones have best in class cameras and image processing algorithms with a solid build quality. And of course developers love 10 times more to make Apps for Apple devices. and according to Forbes, Apple is the most valuable brand in 2017 ($170 bil.).
So i think it is very important to consider about the complete package for a smart phone rather than adding useless featues.
- A good camera with good image processing
- A good battery optimization
- A solid build
- Good performance under extreme conditions (multitasking)
- A better screen (1080p Amoled is more than enough)
- A good speaker system
If manufactures can only focus on above things, They will able to make a complete phone.Technology is already available for that.
